The Places On the List I’ve Visited
Here are some of my personal favorites on the list I’ve visited:
Asheville, North Carolina where the Biltmore House and the Omni Grove Park Inn are just the most spectacular places I’ve visited at Christmas-time. The Inn is the location of the annual National Gingerbread Competition and it is spectacular to see! [photo: www.romaticasheville.com]
St. Augustine, Florida is such a charming town at Christmas with so many fun activities for the whole family. I took a horse-drawn carriage ride through the town to see the light displays and it was magical! [photo: www.citystaug.com]
Solvang, California is the “Danish Capital of America” and one of the most charming places I’ve ever been. The European architecture of the town, combined with the danish bakeries, gift shops, nearby wineries make this a perfect weekend destination any time of year, but is extra special during the holidays. Their annual Julefest (Yule-fest) is a month-long festival celebrating the holiday season. [photo: www.solvangusa.com]
Newport Beach, California offers a fun Christmas Light Boat Parade that is spectacular to see along the Newport Harbor Coast. [photo: visitnewportbeach.com]
And of course, New York City at Christmas is breathtaking and exciting! New York delivers on all the fun, entertainment and shows you could ask for at the holidays! [photo: www.sightseeingpass.com]
Two Favs of Mine that Didn’t Make The List But Should Be Considered
Lebanon, Ohio and the most charming downtown streets filled with their annual Christmas Light Horse Drawn Carriage Parade and Festival. If you’re extra lucky and light dusting of snow makes this the most majestic Christmas card setting ever. [photo: www.lebanonchamber.org]
Dana Point, California is known for its Annual Whale Watching Festival and some of the best whale sightings during migration season in the world. During the holidays, Dana Point Harbor hosts a Boat Light Parade and a spectacular lighted harbor to walk along, take pictures, and enjoy hot chocolate with friends. [photos: www.danapointharbor.com]
